Community Service FAQ
Q. My organization is not a registered charity. Is it eligible?
A. We're very flexible, if you are making a valid contribution to your community, and you're in Manitoba, most likely you are. You may fall into the Ad-hoc/community based category. These could include community recreation/sports teams, community clubs, animal welfare/rescue operations, arts groups, and other entities that provide services that make our community a better place, and don't fit into the non-profit or registered charity categories. We cannot provide free sites for any organizations of a political nature. We also reserve the right to refuse applications for any reason.
Q. Is there a limit on what we can put on our site?
A. If you mean a limit on how much stuff you can put on your site, no, there's no limit (except your disc space and bandwidth will dictate how much data overall). We do cap our costs of developing your site to $2,000 so there is a limit on how many bells and whistles you can get, but we'll help you sort out your priorities so you can get the most important functions on your site right away. If you have a small budget for your web project you can still apply for our program PLUS use your cash to get an even more awesome site!
Q. How do you decide what applications to accept?
A. Good question. Unlike government applications where they tell you in detail what you have to do to get "in", there are no rules or guidelines that we can give you because what it comes down to is if your project makes us feel good, we'll probably take it on. If the website we make for your group make us feel we are helping to make the world a bit more compassionate a place, chances are it's something we'll enjoy doing. And it will get approved.
