About us - The xLAB Story

As we follow the conventional wisdom of the website usability gurus, this is the place where we can unabashedly tell you about us. Yes, this is the xLAB story.

At xLAB our goal is to care for, protect and guide you on your mission to bring your business to the Internet. Our greatest aim is to have your customers tell you how great they think your website is! Because if your customers find your site makes it easy for them to do business with you, you'll be maing more money, and we will have achieved our task.

In January 2003 we created DeX Design & Graphics Lab, a part time creative outlet for innovative web design, while we were still employees of a local IT company. We wanted to design ultra-cool but professional Websites for entrepreneurial companies as a way to stay on top of technology and design trends.

Then in early 2004, our founder, Alex Morrison found herself on the receiving end of corporate downsizing. We took this as a sign that it was time to get serious about a full time business, and leave the corporate world behind. We launched xLAB Interactive as a full time enterprise shortly after.

But it didn't take too long before we realied that our clients weren’t us much interested in the nuances of “good design” as they were in making money. For every "straight up" Website a client requested, at least 4 others wanted their sites to sell their goods and service – to use the Internet as their marketing channel; to make money!

These clients had inventions and wanted to sell them worldwide; they were independent professionals who wanted more clients. They were eager young businesses that wanted to put their product catalog online. They were well established ‘bricks and mortar” businesses that wanted to seize the power and economy of the Internet to sell their stuff, and attract more customers.

Our clients at the time were artists, photographers, writers, musicians and even other Web designers who wanted us to help them promote their Web businesses on the Internet and market their services with their Web sites. But soon, we were working with business of all kinds.

We quickly morphed from a Web design studio to an interactive website promotions and marketing communications shop; and search engine optimization service. We reorganized out staff and abbreviated our name in 2003 to become xLAB Interactive. Today, we have a team of Internet marketing professionals, Web designers and developers, writers, technicians and analysts to help shepherd your business to rank on Google and other search engines and to help you get more paying customers to your Website.

Our clients live and work around the world, from Spain to Saskatchewan; they are smart – they are creative and innovative – they are “building the better mousetrap”. We help them unlock the power and velocity of the Web, and get the world to beat a path to their Website door.
